Holland America Line to Mark 80 Years in Alaska With Six Ships in 2027
Holland America Line will sail six ships out of Seattle, Vancouver and Whittier from April through September 2027, marking 80 years in Alaska and opening 2028 bookings in parallel.

Itinerary
- Holland America Line will deploy six ships from Seattle, Vancouver and Whittier between April and September 2027.
- The 28-day Legendary Alaska Arctic Circle Solstice cruise departs June 6, 2027 for a third season.
- Holland America's 2026 community contributions to five Alaska markets exceeded $320,000.
- The line donated $150,000 to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center during the 2026 season.
- Bookings are already open for Holland America's 2028 Alaska season.
Holland America Line will deploy six ships across three homeports for its 80th-anniversary Alaska season in 2027, marking the operator's longest continuous presence in the market and signalling aggressive capacity commitments at a moment when the line has already opened 2028 sailings for booking.
From April through September 2027, the Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Westerdam and Zaandam will sail out of Seattle, Vancouver and Whittier, the company said. The footprint gives trade partners a full six-vessel brochure to push during the Wave season and extends revenue capture deep into shoulder periods.
What is new in the 2027 programme?
The line-up adds an eight-day Alaska Inside Passage roundtrip from Vancouver, broadening shorter-itinerary options for drive-in and fly-in feeder markets in western Canada. Returning for a third year is the 28-day Legendary Alaska Arctic Circle Solstice cruise, departing June 6, 2027.
Holland America is also doubling down on the British Columbia-anchored product that has become a differentiator. The Noordam will operate a seven-day Great Bear Rainforest cruise, while the Zaandam will sail two departures of an 18-day Great Bear Rainforest & Alaska Explorer.
Outside the ship schedule, renovations at the Holland America Denali Lodge will wrap in 2027, completing a refresh of the overland product that is a key upsell lever for cruise-only bookings and a meaningful revenue stream on top of the base fare.
How is the line signalling demand?
The 2028 Alaska season is already open for booking, a move that effectively extends the destination's revenue capture window by more than 24 months. Early-window pricing on shoulder and Inside Passage sailings typically drives the highest attach rates for travel advisors and gives the operator inventory visibility for group blocks, charter planning and corporate incentive business.
What does the community footprint mean for sellers?
The 2026 season produced more than $320,000 in contributions across Anchorage, Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan and Denali, including a $75,000 commitment to Ketchikan American Legion Post 3 and a $150,000 donation to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Guests raised more than $60,000 for Alaska Geographic through the On Deck for a Cause programme, and the line's Pennies programme contributed $5,000 to Scouting America Troops 4 and 2004.
For trade partners, that philanthropic record is part of the destination narrative they can carry into luxury and expedition conversations where provenance and stewardship weigh on purchase decisions.
What are the executives saying?
"Alaska has been an important part of Holland America Line's story for nearly 80 years, and we're already preparing to mark this milestone following a successful 2026 season," said Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line.
"Our decades of experience in Alaska give us a deep understanding of what makes this destination so special, and that knowledge helps us create experiences that allow our guests to connect with the state in meaningful ways," Bodensteiner added.
The line's pre-statehood history in Alaska, dating to before 1959, is a positioning point Holland America has used in consumer marketing and one travel sellers can deploy against the wave of premium and expedition capacity entering the Inside Passage.
The 2027 programme will be a test of whether longer booking windows and expanded British Columbia pairings convert the cruise-plus-overland demand the line has spent several seasons cultivating.
