Royal Caribbean Opens Alaska 2028 Sales With Four Ships

Royal Caribbean puts four ships on Alaska for summer 2028 from Seattle, Seward and Vancouver, with loyalty bookings open now and general sales from Oct. 1.

Itinerary

  1. Four ships — Anthem, Ovation, Serenade and Voyager of the Seas — will sail Alaska from April to September 2028
  2. Bookings open to Crown & Anchor loyalty members now; general sales begin Oct. 1
  3. Anthem of the Seas pairs seven-night cruises from Seward and Vancouver with two- to six-night Cruisetours including Denali National Park

Royal Caribbean has opened bookings for its summer 2028 Alaska season, committing four ships — Anthem, Ovation, Serenade and Voyager of the Seas — to seven-night itineraries running from April through September 2028.

The deployment keeps the operator at a four-ship Alaska footprint for a third consecutive season, matching its 2027 lineup of Anthem, Quantum, Voyager and Serenade. Three departure gateways — Seattle, Seward and Vancouver — will share the capacity, with the Seward and Vancouver departures on Anthem anchoring the line's Cruisetours product, two- to six-night land extensions that include Denali National Park.

For travel sellers, the near-term action point is the booking window. Crown & Anchor Society loyalty members can reserve 2028 Alaska sailings now on Royal Caribbean's website ahead of the general on-sale date of Oct. 1. Early loyalty access has become a standard lever for cruise lines to lock in repeat customers — and their agents — before open inventory, and Alaska's short May-to-September prime window makes early positioning capacity planning more consequential than in year-round Caribbean routes.

Anthem of the Seas, sailing from Seward and Vancouver between May and September, carries the highest-margin play in the lineup. Its seven-night cruises pair with pre- or post-cruise Cruisetours, which lengthen the vacation and lift per-booking revenue. Port calls include Hubbard Glacier, Ketchikan, Skagway and Icy Strait Point, plus Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau.

Ovation of the Seas returns to Seattle for seven-night cruises from May to September, calling at Sitka, Skagway and Juneau and cruising Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. Royal Caribbean describes the ship as upgraded, though the line did not detail the scope or cost of the work in the announcement.

Serenade of the Seas departs Vancouver from May to September, with itineraries built around Icy Strait Point's zipline — marketed as the longest and highest at the port — hiking in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, and time in Juneau.

Voyager of the Seas operates the longest season, running from April to September out of Seattle with calls at Sitka, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, British Columbia. The ship completed its first Alaska season this summer, meaning 2028 marks its third year in the market and a chance to prove whether the deployment has built repeat demand.

Alaska remains one of the most capacity-constrained premium cruise markets: viable sailing months, limited berth supply at key ports and regulatory limits on Glacier Bay entries cap how much product any line can add. Royal Caribbean holding four ships steady across 2027 and 2028 signals a decision to defend share through product mix — Cruisetours, upgraded hardware and loyalty-first distribution — rather than fleet growth.

Agents and tour operators building 2028 Alaska programs now have fixed ship, gateway and date parameters to work against, with full public inventory available from Oct. 1.
