- Oosterdam is the first ship to emerge from the multi-year Holland America Evolution program, accelerated from its original schedule
- Final itinerary: 11-day Eastern Caribbean roundtrip Fort Lauderdale, departing December 11, 2027
Holland America Line has placed five Oosterdam voyages on sale for the first time since the ship's Holland America Evolution refurbishment, with the lead sailing departing Civitavecchia (Rome) on October 31, 2027.
Booking inventory now stretches nearly two years ahead of departure for the vessel. That forward window shapes how travel sellers can structure deposits, group holds and pre-sale marketing pushes around the post-refurbishment product.
What is Holland America Evolution?
Holland America Evolution is a multi-year fleet modernization that extends features from the line's Pinnacle Class ships across the rest of the fleet. The Oosterdam will be the first ship to emerge from the program. The transformation has been pulled forward from its original schedule, according to Cruise Industry News.
"As the first ship to emerge from Holland America Evolution, the Oosterdam marks the beginning of an exciting new era for our fleet," said Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line. "We're delighted to welcome guests aboard these inaugural post-Evolution sailings and invite them to be among the first to experience a transformation that builds on everything they love about Holland America Line while introducing what comes next."
Which itineraries are on sale?
The five published voyages span Mediterranean and Caribbean product:
- 10-day Adriatic Antiquities, Civitavecchia (Rome) to Trieste, departing October 31, 2027; calls in Italy, Greece, Montenegro and Croatia.
- 11-day Adriatic Antiquities: Croatia, Greek Isles & Istanbul, Trieste to Piraeus (Athens), departing November 10, 2027.
- 7-day Mediterranean Splendor: Greek Isles & Malta, Piraeus to Barcelona, departing November 21, 2027.
- 13-day Cultural Crossing: Spain & Gibraltar, Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, departing November 28, 2027.
- 11-day Eastern Caribbean: Windward & Leeward Islands, roundtrip Fort Lauderdale, departing December 11, 2027.
The sequence positions the Oosterdam for a 41-day deployment under guests from late October through mid-December 2027, with pricing bands and cabin mix to be detailed through the line's trade and consumer channels.
How does the timing affect sellers?
The October 2027 departures join a publishing cycle that already includes a scattering of 2027 and 2028 cruises across the line. Opening the post-refurbishment product this far in advance gives Holland America's trade partners first-cycle access to the renovated hardware before rivals' similar drydock announcements reach the pipeline. For independent agents and consortia, the booking window expands the runway to convert past Oosterdam passengers and to merchandise the ship's evolution narrative to first-time cruisers.
The early-schedule acceleration matters commercially. Pulling the drydock forward shortens the interval between the refit announcement and revenue-generating inventory, allowing the line to monetize the modernization narrative without waiting for the original drydock window to mature. Travel sellers will be watching how commission terms, onboard credit incentives and group policies are layered onto these inaugural voyages — particularly the Adriatic Antiquities opening leg, which carries the highest-profile itinerary because it is the first sailing out of the yard.
The Oosterdam accounts for a measurable slice of Holland America's deployment capacity, and the Evolution program will reset onboard revenue economics for the vessel. Whether the remaining fleet follow-up refits replicate the Oosterdam's booking curve — or compress it — will set the cadence at which Pinnacle Class features flow into the rest of the brand's mid-tier ships through 2028 and beyond.
Bodensteiner framed the bookings opening as a consumer-facing milestone: "One of the great joys of travel is being among the first to discover something new, and these voyages give guests that opportunity aboard Oosterdam." For travel sellers, the milestone is also a forecast — the commercial test of how a fleet-wide modernization translates into advance bookings, fare discipline and share shifts once the second ship in the Evolution pipeline opens.
