Virgin Voyages Reworks 16 Alaska Sailings for 2027
Virgin Voyages adjusted 16 Alaska departures for 2027: Tracy Arm scenic cruising is out over landslide risk, Prince Rupert is replaced by Victoria, and one Astoria call is cancelled with a $33 refund.

Itinerary
- Virgin Voyages adjusted 16 of its 2027 Alaska and Pacific Coast departures for safety, navigation and guest feedback reasons.
- Scenic cruising at Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier replaces Tracy Arm Fjord on 13 sailings due to landslide risk; Victoria replaces Prince Rupert on 12 sailings.
- The September 10, 2027 sailing loses its Astoria call, with guests receiving a $33 per person refund for port taxes and fees.
Virgin Voyages has adjusted 16 departures in its 2027 Alaska and Pacific Coast program, citing safety, navigation constraints and guest feedback as the Brilliant Lady returns to the region for a second summer season.
The cruise line detailed the changes in a statement to travel advisors. It framed the moves as "fine-tuning" rather than a restructuring: "Specific ports and scenic routes are changing; ship assignment, voyage length, and core onboard experience are not."
The most consequential shift affects 13 sailings that had planned scenic cruising near Tracy Arm Fjord. Continued landslide risk in that area pushed Virgin to substitute scenic cruising at Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier instead. For advisors, the change is operational rather than cosmetic — the glacier experience remains the marquee selling point of the itinerary, but marketing materials and client expectations will need updating.
A second substitution responds directly to guest feedback. Virgin is dropping calls at Prince Rupert on 12 sailings and replacing them with Victoria, where passengers get a full day in port. The company highlighted Victoria's Inner Harbour and historic downtown as the draw. Victoria is a far more established cruise call than Prince Rupert, which should ease pre-cruise planning conversations for sellers handling repeat Alaska clients familiar with the port.
Virgin also relabeled Inside Passage cruising as a sea day on published itineraries — a transparency tweak that advisors should note when setting expectations for clients booking scenic passages.
Smaller adjustments target tender ports and timing at Juneau, Sitka and Icy Strait Point. The August 24, 2027 departure will now leave Victoria at 6:00 PM because of local harbor restrictions.
The September 10, 2027 voyage carries the largest single-sailing change. Virgin cancelled a planned call at Astoria to accommodate Vancouver tidal navigation windows, replacing the port with a sea day and adding time in San Francisco. Guests on that sailing will receive a $33 per person refund covering Astoria's port taxes and fees — a figure advisors should pass along proactively, since the refund mechanics may not surface in every booking channel.
Virgin completed its maiden season in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest after first arriving in the region in May 2026, making 2027 the brand's test of whether its adults-only positioning can hold repeat demand in a market dominated by established players. The 16 adjusted departures represent a meaningful share of a seasonal program concentrated between Seattle and Vancouver, so the changes will touch a significant slice of Alaska bookings sold through the trade.
Advisors with clients booked on affected sailings should expect rebooking conversations around the new port order and, for the September 10 voyage, the partial refund. Virgin has not indicated any further itinerary revisions beyond the announced changes, and the ship, voyage lengths and onboard product remain unchanged heading into the second season.
