Itinerary

  1. Carnival Jubilee, a 5,400-passenger Excel-class ship, began eight-night Bahamas cruises from Galveston in late September after nearly three years of Western Caribbean-only deployment.
  2. The new itineraries call at Nassau, Celebration Key and RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, and will run regularly through 2028.
  3. Jubilee will continue six-night Western Caribbean cruises to Cozumel and Isla Tropicale between Bahamas sailings; Carnival Miracle joins Galveston for a seasonal 2026-27 program.

Carnival Cruise Line has shifted deployment of the 5,400-passenger Carnival Jubilee, adding regular eight-night Bahamas itineraries from Galveston that will run through 2028 — the first time the ship has sailed east of its Western Caribbean route since entering service.

The first Bahamas sailing departed in late September and called at Nassau plus two of the line's private island destinations: Celebration Key and RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay. The itinerary includes three days at sea alongside the three port calls.

The move carries direct revenue implications for Carnival. Both private destinations are owned assets, meaning passenger spend at Celebration Key and Half Moon Cay stays inside the company rather than leaking to third-party port operators. Routing a 5,400-passenger Excel-class ship — among the largest in the fleet — through those venues on a recurring basis through 2028 effectively locks a volume guarantee into the islands' utilization from a Gulf Coast homeport.

It also marks a distribution change for Texas-based sellers. For nearly three years, agents and operators in the Galveston catchment could only sell Jubilee product bound for Mexico and Honduras. The new sailings open a Bahamas inventory stream from a homeport that previously required ships such as Carnival Dream and Carnival Breeze — smaller vessels — for regional variety.

Carnival built the Jubilee at Meyer Werft, and the LNG-powered ship debuted in late 2023 as the third unit in the Excel class. The company designed the vessel specifically for the Texan market, and it has sailed year-round from Galveston since its maiden season.

Its previous program centered on seven-night Western Caribbean cruises calling at Cozumel and Costa Maya in Mexico, plus regular stops at Mahogany Bay — a private destination in Carnival's Paradise Collection located on Roatán in Honduras' Bay Islands Department. Carnival renamed the port Isla Tropicale earlier this year.

The Bahamas deployment does not replace the Western Caribbean product. Jubilee will continue operating six-night cruises to Mexico and Honduras between the Bahamas sailings, with calls at Cozumel and Isla Tropicale. Galveston thus gains a two-product rotation on the fleet's largest ship class: shorter Mexico-focused voyages and longer Bahamas itineraries anchored by the company's private islands.

The homeport itself is scaling up. Carnival Dream and Carnival Breeze currently sail alongside Jubilee from Galveston, and Carnival will add a fourth ship later this year. The Carnival Miracle is scheduled to operate a seasonal program from the Texas port in 2026-27.

Four ships — including an Excel-class flagship running private-island itineraries on a multi-year basis — position Galveston as one of Carnival's most heavily resourced homeports, with capacity sellers in the region gaining both Bahamas and Western Caribbean inventory to package across price points and durations.
