TikTok has formally launched in-app travel bookings in the U.S. with six distribution partners: Booking.com, Expedia, Trip.com, Viator, GetYourGuide and Tiqets, the recently Expedia-acquired attractions marketplace. The product, TikTok GO, puts bookable lodging and experiences in front of the platform's 200 million U.S. users through search, video and location pages.

Users aged 18 and older who find a listing can complete a booking without leaving the app. The U.S. version follows separate TikTok GO deployments in Indonesia and Japan with different travel partners.

The rollout builds on a test last summer, when TikTok ran accommodation booking for 10% of U.S. users in collaboration with Booking.com. A TikTok spokesperson said the company tested with each of the named partners on a rolling basis but declined to say when testing with each brand began. TikTok cited "interest from users" during testing without offering concrete metrics.

"Every day on TikTok, millions of people discover where to eat, where to stay and what to do next," said Adam Presser, CEO of TikTok USDS Joint Venture. "TikTok GO connects that moment of inspiration directly to the businesses behind it, and that's good for creators, good for local businesses and good for communities."

What does TikTok GO change for sellers?

Two structural points matter for travel sellers. First, all partners offering in-app booking set their own pricing, according to TikTok. Second, creators can link content about hotels, attractions and services to bookings and earn commissions managed through the TikTok Creator Center — effectively adding a link-based affiliate layer on top of direct OTA distribution.

For the OTAs, the appeal is capturing demand at the point of discovery rather than paying to re-acquire it later.

"By bringing Booking.com directly into the TikTok journey, travelers can move from discovering a dream accommodation in a video to securing their stay in just a few taps," said Mark van der Linden, vice president of partnerships for Booking.com.

GetYourGuide co-founder and CEO Johannes Reck framed the deal in volume terms: "We're collapsing the time between inspiration and action. With over 200,000 experiences across 12,000 destinations, GetYourGuide is well-positioned to power that moment at scale, giving our operators—many of them small, local businesses—direct access to a massive, travel-hungry audience."

TikTok has been building toward this since September, when it launched a travel advertising solution after testing with Expedia Group, Accor, Etihad Airways and Melia.

Will TikTok GO actually convert?

The demand signal is real. Two thirds of travelers who use social media for planning later made a trip purchase or decision related to content they consumed, according to Phocuswright's report F is for Funnel: Social Media and the Path to Travel Purchase.

But conversion mechanics are unproven. Madeline List, manager of research and special projects at Phocuswright, said social apps have become an important driver of travel discovery, while cautioning that TikTok GO may not replicate the conversion boost seen with TikTok Shop because travel behaves differently from retail.

"Travel is a high price-point category and rarely a spontaneous purchase—perhaps with some exceptions for in-destination experiences," List said. "Having a platform that enables seamless conversion between the scrolling experience and booking is critical to making sure that those who are ready to book don't abandon the providers they discover through the platform."

She added that for most travelers the path from inspiration to booking rarely happens "in a straight line or single session."

TikTok says it is continuing to invest in the travel category, but with no disclosed commission structure, booking volumes or partner revenue figures, the commercial impact of TikTok GO remains a projection until the company or its partners release measured results.
