Tianjin International Cruise Homeport processed roughly 10,500 cruise passengers on October 1, China's National Day — the port's highest single-day total of 2026 and more than double the volume recorded on the same day a year earlier.
Three ships berthed simultaneously: Adora Cruises' Mediterranea, Tianjin Oriental Cruises' Visio and Weidong Shipping's Xinjinqiao V. The convergence of a domestic premium brand, a regional short-haul operator and a ferry-style passenger-cargo carrier in one port on one day signals how broadly North China's cruise capacity has rebuilt.
Across the full National Day holiday window, Tianjin handled 19,500 international cruise passengers, according to port authorities.
What did each operator sail?
The Adora Mediterranea opened a seven-day roundtrip calling at Yeosu, Busan and Jeju — a Korea-heavy itinerary aimed at the holiday week's peak demand. During the vacation window, the ship is running a Peking-opera cultural program and onboard workshops with the China National Peking Opera Company, a product pairing designed to convert holiday travelers into higher-yielding onboard spend.
The Visio, first to arrive in the early morning, operated a six-day roundtrip to Jeju and Incheon that the operator positioned as a short-haul family product — a segmentation play targeting multi-generational holiday travel rather than the conventional cruise demographic.
The Xinjinqiao V restarted the Tianjin–Incheon passenger-cargo route as part of its restart sailing, restoring a transport-oriented option alongside the leisure cruise calls.
How large is Tianjin's cruise year so far?
Through September, Tianjin logged 70 cruise calls and more than 200,000 cruise passengers, according to Tianjin Port Group. That base puts the homeport firmly among China's leading cruise gateways as the industry continues its recovery from the post-pandemic shutdown.
The National Day figures give sellers a concrete read on demand. A single-day record of 10,500 passengers, sustained across three different business models — premium cruising, family short-haul and passenger-cargo ferry service — indicates the holiday market supports multiple product tiers departing from North China rather than concentrating in one brand or format.
For distribution partners, theAdora Mediterranea's seven-day Korea itinerary and the Visio's six-day family product represent the two main sellable configurations from Tianjin during the holiday window, both with calls at Jeju. The overlap suggests competitive pressure on Korea-bound inventory from the homeport.
Two additional cruise ships are scheduled to call at Tianjin in mid-October, extending the port's shoulder-season calendar beyond the holiday peak.
The pace of calls and the record passenger day position Tianjin to close 2026 with materially higher throughput than last year, provided mid-October sailings hold and operators keep the Korea itineraries in rotation.
