Adora Cruises has scheduled nearly 20 homeport sailings from Hong Kong for the Adora Flora City in 2027, a deployment that locks a second Chinese-built megaship into one of Asia's most contested turnaround ports.

The season runs across three windows: late March to early May, late June to late July, and late October to early November 2027. The ship carries 2,130 cabins and suites and up to 5,232 guests — capacity that directly shifts where regional cruise inventory is sold and sourced from.

Itineraries break into three tiers:

  • Five- and six-day cruises to Vietnam and South Korea
  • Nine- and 10-day voyages across Northeast and Southeast Asia
  • Three cruises with no port calls at all, sold purely as sea-based products

The no-port-call sailings are a distribution anomaly worth watching: they pitch onboard experience over destination, a model closer to resort packaging than traditional cruise retail.

What does the deployment mean for Hong Kong?

Adora framed the move as part of a broader capacity build-up. The company said Hong Kong is an important base as it strengthens its regional presence, and that it will continue increasing capacity there to support the city's bid to become an international cruise hub in Asia.

For sellers of travel, that means more Chinese-source turnaround inventory flowing through Hong Kong agents and DMCs, competing with Singapore and Shanghai homeport deployments from rival lines.

The Hong Kong government has aligned itself with the plan. Chu Shui-man, acting commissioner for tourism at the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, said: "We are grateful for and welcome the Adora Flora City's decision to operate from Hong Kong as its homeport."

How does Flora City fit Adora's fleet plan?

Flora City is the sister ship to the Adora Magic City, upgraded with more efficient space use, smart technology and an enhanced onboard experience. Adora is pitching it to guests from China and abroad as a sea-based cultural journey that is "more beautiful, more high-tech, and more Chinese" — a positioning that signals the brand is chasing both domestic Chinese demand and inbound travelers.

The timeline is firm on the hardware side. The vessel will be delivered ahead of schedule on November 6, 2026, and departs its Guangzhou homeport on its maiden voyage on November 22, with Hong Kong as the first port of call.

One early revenue hook is already on the calendar: a special overnight Hong Kong New Year's cruise on December 30, giving guests the chance to welcome 2027 at Victoria Harbour — a one-off product that should sell heavily through Hong Kong's local agency channel.

With nearly 20 sailings already committed for 2027 and government backing secured, Adora has signaled that further Hong Kong capacity increases are on the table as the ship moves toward delivery.
