Itinerary

  1. AIDAmar departs Warnemünde November 3, 2028 on a 142-day world cruise ending in Hamburg March 25, 2029.
  2. The itinerary covers 51 ports in 19 countries on five continents, with 12 overnight stays.
  3. Australia gets 11 port calls, more than any previous AIDA cruise.
  4. Fares start at €20,995 per person including a €4,000 Early Bird Plus discount.
  5. The 2026-27 AIDA world cruise sailed from Hamburg on October 18 aboard the AIDAsol.

AIDA Cruises has opened sales for its first world cruise departing from Warnemünde, with fares starting at €20,995 per person for the 142-day voyage that sails on November 3, 2028.

The German brand, part of Carnival Corporation, will deploy the AIDAmar on the routing, which ends in Hamburg on March 25, 2029. The itinerary covers 51 ports in 19 countries across five continents, crossing the equator twice and the date line once. Twelve overnight stays are built into the schedule.

For sellers of travel, the launch gives AIDA a second long-haul flagship product in the German source market, anchored by an Early Bird Plus discount worth €4,000 per person on the entry inside cabin (category IB, two-person occupancy) — an incentive to lock in bookings well before the sailing window.

What does the itinerary deliver?

The route runs from Warnemünde to the Isle of Portland, A Coruña, Gran Canaria and Santiago before the Atlantic crossing to Recife, Brazil. South American calls include Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Tierra del Fuego, the Cape Horn passage and the fjord and glacier regions of Patagonia.

The ship then heads for Easter Island and the South Pacific, spending Christmas in French Polynesia and New Year's Eve in Suva, Fiji.

New Zealand is covered with six ports across both islands, including Auckland, Napier, Wellington and Picton, with scenic passages through Marlborough Sound and Milford Sound.

Where does the record sit?

Australia is the volume play. The AIDAmar calls at 11 Australian ports — more than on any previous AIDA cruise, according to the company. The list includes Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and Geraldton, with overnight stays in Sydney, Darwin, Broome and Perth/Fremantle.

The return leg runs through the Indian Ocean to Mauritius and La Réunion, followed by extended calls at Port Louis, Gqeberha, Cape Town and Walvis Bay in Namibia. AIDA is positioning these layovers as windows for safari, desert and Table Mountain excursions — high-margin shore revenue for the operator and commission-relevant add-ons for agents.

The voyage circumnavigates the Cape of Good Hope before heading back to Europe via Cape Verde.

How does pricing stack up?

The €20,995 starting fare is a premium price per person based on two sharing an inside cabin, and it already includes the €4,000 Early Bird Plus discount. That discount structure sets the effective pricing corridor agents will work with when comparing AIDA's product against rival world cruises from the German and international brands competing for the same long-itinerary customer.

The announcement follows the 2026-27 edition of AIDA's world cruise, which departed Hamburg on October 18 aboard the AIDAsol — confirming the product as a recurring annual franchise rather than a one-off, with the 2028 edition adding a new embarkation port in Warnemünde to widen catchment in northern Germany.

AIDA has not disclosed capacity allocations or sales targets for the 2028 sailing; the booking performance of the current AIDAsol voyage will be the metric to watch.
