VidantaWorld Wraps First Europe Season With 216-Guest Elegant

VidantaWorld Voyages has closed its first European cruise season, ending the program on October 9, 2026, in Honfleur after a final open-jaw sailing from Santander that called at Bordeaux, Saint-Malo and Rouen.

The season marks the commercial debut of the Elegant, a 15,396-ton ship built in 1990 and formerly operated by the now-defunct All Leisure Group. VidantaWorld spent months on a major refurbishment before the vessel entered service in April 2026 — and the most consequential change wasn't cosmetic. The refit cut guest capacity from 600 to 216, a 64% reduction.

That number is the business story. By sailing at roughly a third of its original density, the Elegant positions itself in the upscale, yacht-style segment rather than competing on volume. For sellers of travel, that means higher per-guest pricing power but far less inventory to move.

Where did the ship sail?

The inaugural season covered a broad Mediterranean and Western European footprint:

• French Riviera and the Spanish coast
• The Azores and Portugal
• Greek Islands
• Adriatic Sea and Italian shores
• Spain and France, via the final Santander-to-Honfleur open-jaw cruise

According to VidantaWorld, the itineraries leverage the ship's small scale to reach yacht-centric ports such as Saint-Tropez, Monte Carlo and Cannes — calls that larger vessels physically cannot make.

What happens over the winter?

No commercial sailings are scheduled. The Elegant will remain in Europe through the 2026-27 winter in what the company calls a "warm layup" on a river in northern France, with the off-season dedicated to charters and special events.

That's a revenue-soft but asset-preserving choice: the ship stays warm, charterable and ready rather than repositioning to a second seasonal market. It also means zero retail cruise inventory from the brand until spring.

When does service resume?

The Elegant returns to service in April 2027, in what VidantaWorld frames as the quieter, early-season Mediterranean months. The program runs through October 2027 and features ports in Italy, Spain, France, Croatia and Montenegro, among others.

The headline itinerary is a seven-night Greece cruise in August 2027, timed so guests can view a total solar eclipse from sea while sailing between Kalamata and Chania — placing the ship directly in the path of totality. It's a rare, date-fixed selling hook that agents can market as a one-off event voyage.

One caveat worth noting: VidantaWorld has not disclosed passenger counts, load factors or revenue from the inaugural season. The completion of the schedule confirms the operation ran; it doesn't yet confirm it ran profitably.

For now, the brand's second season doubles down on the same bet — small ship, small ports, premium positioning — with the eclipse sailing as its most concrete differentiator.
