MakeMyTrip Buys Majority Stake in Ride-Pooling App Quick Ride
MakeMyTrip has taken a majority stake in ride-pooling platform Quick Ride, now housed in Co Ride Mobility, as non-air bookings hit 63.2% of its gross bookings mix.

Itinerary
- Non-air bookings reached 63.2% of gross bookings in the quarter ended September 30, 2026, up from 61.5% a year earlier.
- The 'other' segment posted $24.4 million in adjusted margins, up about 30% year over year.
- MakeMyTrip did not disclose the price or exact ownership level in Quick Ride.
- The deal excludes Quick Ride's EV taxi business, which stays with iDisha Info Labs.
- The acquisition follows Savaari (2023), Happay (2024), Flamingo Transworld and a stake in Atlys.
MakeMyTrip has acquired a majority stake in Bengaluru-based ride-pooling platform Quick Ride, the company announced Friday, in a deal that pushes India's largest online travel agency into daily urban commuting for the first time.
Neither the price nor the precise ownership level was disclosed. The transaction covers only Quick Ride's ride-pooling business and brand, which the company moved into a new entity, Co Ride Mobility, ahead of the sale. The platform's electric vehicle taxi business stays with its parent, iDisha Info Labs, and Quick Ride's existing promoters continue to run the business after the deal.
What does the deal actually give MakeMyTrip?
Quick Ride connects commuters traveling along similar routes so they can share rides and split costs. The platform also works with corporates, IT parks and business campuses, giving it a customer base beyond individual travelers.
That matters for MakeMyTrip's distribution strategy. Its core products — flights and hotels — are triggered by trips. Ride-pooling gives the company a reason for customers to open the app on an ordinary weekday.
MakeMyTrip's existing ground transport stack already includes bus bookings through redBus and intercity car rentals through Savaari. Quick Ride adds an intra-city, daily-use layer that none of those assets cover.
The commuter base itself is the asset: corporate relationships and campus partnerships hand MakeMyTrip a pool of users who interact with a travel product every working day, not a few times a year.
How the numbers frame the timing
The acquisition tracks with MakeMyTrip's shift in revenue mix. Non-air businesses reached 63.2% of gross bookings in the fiscal second quarter ended September 30, 2026, up from 61.5% a year earlier.
The "other" segment — which includes cabs, insurance, foreign exchange and activities — posted adjusted margins of $24.4 million, up roughly 30% year over year. That ancillary-heavy growth outpaced the company's overall top line and explains the appetite for assets that deepen non-air supply.
The unstated backdrop is a reported India IPO. A broader, steadier transaction base across commuting, buses, rentals, visas and holidays makes the equity story easier to sell than a flight-ticket business alone.
A pattern of buying beyond flights
Quick Ride continues a run of acquisitions:
- Savaari, intercity car rentals, acquired in 2023
- Happay, a corporate expense platform, acquired in 2024
- Flamingo Transworld, group holidays
- Atlys, a minority stake in the visa processor
Each deal targets a segment where flights are absent or peripheral. Together they build a portfolio designed to capture travel-adjacent spending — and now commuting itself — before a customer ever books a plane ticket.
What is measured, what is not
The 63.2% non-air share and the $24.4 million adjusted margin are reported results. Whether commuters convert into hotel bookers or holiday buyers is a projection, and MakeMyTrip offered no figures on Quick Ride's users, rides or revenue.
The strategic test is straightforward: Quick Ride gives MakeMyTrip a product people use on a random Thursday, not just before a holiday, and the company now has to turn those daily commuters into MakeMyTrip travelers.
