Itinerary

  1. First 2026–27 charter: Aeroflot from Yekaterinburg landed at Dabolim with 162 passengers in September, ahead of the usual October season start
  2. Russian frequencies start at five weekly and rise to nine by mid-October 2026; a 285-passenger Moscow flight lands 4 October
  3. TUI Group's Le Passage to India runs Manchester and Gatwick charters from 4 November, with Kazakhstan services expected in coming weeks

Goa's 2026–27 international tourism season opened with 162 passengers landing at Goa International Airport, Dabolim, on an Aeroflot charter from Yekaterinburg — a September arrival that beats the state's usual October start by several weeks.

The flight launches a Russia programme connecting Goa with Yekaterinburg and Moscow, operated by Aeroflot with support from Concord Exotic Voyages (India) Pvt. Ltd. and the Minar Group. Five flights will run weekly at the outset, rising to nine by mid-October 2026. A Moscow flight carrying 285 passengers is scheduled to land at Dabolim on 4 October.

The capacity ramp matters for sellers. Russian charters deliver concentrated, pre-packaged demand that flows directly into hotel allocations, transfer operators and retail agents — the segment Goa's tourism directorate is explicitly targeting. Director of Tourism Kedar A. Naik said international charter flights support hotels, tour operators, travel agents, transport providers and other tourism-linked businesses, and noted that planned services from Russia, the UK, Kazakhstan and other markets will add to the state's connectivity through the season.

UK and Kazakhstan enter the mix

The Russia flights are only part of the programme. A Le Passage to India (TUI Group) charter from Manchester arrives on 4 November, with a Gatwick service to follow. Kazakhstan services are expected to begin in the coming weeks. For TUI, the Manchester and Gatwick rotations restore a UK leisure corridor into Goa; Nahush Bargi, Assistant Vice President at Le Passage to India, said the arrivals will support Goa's connectivity with the UK market.

Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte framed the first Russian arrival as the formal start of the international charter season and said the state is working to strengthen established source markets, expand connectivity and push visitors toward heritage, culture, wellness, nature and cuisine experiences — a diversification pitch aimed at raising per-visitor spend beyond beach tourism.

Ground handlers locked in

The commercial structure is already in place. Sheik Ismail, Senior Vice President at Concord Exotic Voyages, said the Moscow and Yekaterinburg services are now operating with frequencies expected to increase as the season progresses. Shubert Colaco, Vice President at Minar Group, said the company will continue its partnership with a Russian tour operator to support the Russia-Goa connection through the charter season.

Arriving Russian passengers received a traditional Goan welcome with flowers and a brass band — ceremony that signals how much the state values the charter channel after seasons in which international seat capacity into Goa has fluctuated.

The measured results so far are modest: one arrival of 162 passengers and a schedule of five weekly frequencies. The projections are larger: nine weekly Russian rotations by mid-October, UK charters from November and Kazakhstan services to follow. Whether the multi-market programme holds through the season will determine how much capacity hotels and operators can bank for winter 2026–27.
