Delta Adds Three New Transatlantic Routes, Puts 2027 Seats on Sale
Delta Air Lines will launch three new nonstop transatlantic routes in 2027 — Boston-Venice, Detroit-Athens and a first-ever Austin-Paris service — while stretching its Europe season into spring and fall.

Itinerary
- Boston-Venice nonstop launches May 7, 2027, four times weekly through Oct. 29, making Boston Delta's third U.S. gateway to Venice.
- Detroit-Athens nonstop launches June 8, 2027, three times weekly on an Airbus A330-200; Delta says Detroit connections reach more than 40 U.S. cities.
- Austin-Paris nonstop launches March 27, 2027, daily on an A330-900neo — Austin's first-ever direct service to Paris — with one-stop access claimed to nearly 70 destinations via Air France-KLM.
- Boston-Milan service rises to daily in 2027 alongside the new Boston-Venice route.
- Shoulder-season service starts earlier in 2027, including MSP and Detroit to Rome in early March, Seattle-Rome in April, and earlier returns to JFK (Catania, Porto, Prague, Copenhagen), Boston and Seattle (Barcelona) and Atlanta (Edinburgh).
Delta Air Lines will launch three new nonstop transatlantic services for summer 2027, putting seats on sale roughly 18 months before departure. The schedule includes Austin's first-ever direct link to Paris.
What's actually new?
Boston-Venice launches May 7, 2027, four times weekly through Oct. 29. That makes Boston Delta's third U.S. gateway to Venice, behind JFK and Atlanta.
Detroit-Athens begins June 8, 2027, three weekly flights on an Airbus A330-200 with Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort and Main cabins. Austin-Paris starts March 27, 2027, daily on an A330-900neo, opening a market that until now required a connection.
Takeaway: Three new city pairs, each with a different strategic reason for being on the map.
How does this reshape Delta's Italy and Greece play?
Venice is already one of Delta's most-served Italian cities. Adding Boston pushes the carrier's U.S.-Venice gateways to three and lifts Boston-Milan to daily in 2027.
Detroit-Athens gives the Midwest a new nonstop, and Delta says connections through Detroit reach more than 40 U.S. cities. Useful for advisors selling smaller Midwestern markets, though load data on a non-hub route won't surface until well after launch.
Takeaway: Delta is widening its Italy footprint from Boston while planting a fresh flag in Greece via Detroit.
What does the Austin move signal?
Austin-Paris is the headline. It's the first nonstop ever between the Texas capital and Paris, and Delta leans on its Air France-KLM joint venture, claiming one-stop access to nearly 70 destinations across Europe, India and Africa.
For sellers, that opens a multi-carrier itinerary without a U.S. connection. The catch: a "one-stop" pitch usually means the onward flight departs from Paris-CDG, which trades a U.S. layover for a European one.
Takeaway: Austin-Paris is less about Austin itself and more about selling Europe through a brand-new Texas gateway.
What about shoulder season?
Delta is also extending its 2027 transatlantic window. Minneapolis-St. Paul and Detroit to Rome will start in early March, not April. Seattle-Rome returns in April.
New York-JFK service to Catania, Porto, Prague and Copenhagen moves earlier, alongside Boston and Seattle to Barcelona and Atlanta to Edinburgh. The shift turns what was once a four-month business into something closer to eight months a year.
Takeaway: Shoulder season is becoming peak season, and advisors should expect to sell Europe trips nearly year-round.
What should advisors watch?
Three things: load factor reports once Boston-Venice and Detroit-Athens hit 90 days in service, the booking curve on Austin-Paris, and whether Delta keeps capacity flat on competing hubs like Atlanta and JFK.
A 2027 launch this far out is unusual for a U.S. carrier, and gives advisors a longer window to sell shoulder-season Europe at introductory pricing. Bookings are open via delta.com.
Takeaway: The real test isn't the announcement — it's whether these new city pairs actually fill once they're flying.
