Bay Gardens Resorts has opened its first five-star property, Sapphire Sands Villas, and used the inaugural Saint Lucia Showcase International to put the nine-villa product in front of travel advisors from the U.S., Canada, the UK, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Tourism organized the showcase, which brought international travel professionals to the island to experience its tourism offerings firsthand. For sellers of travel, the private event functioned as a product briefing: advisors toured the accommodations, the Moonstone Spa and one of the island's largest fitness facilities, and sampled the property's newly opened Asian-Caribbean fusion restaurant and bar, Kimchi & Kalaloo (K&K).

Why does the property matter for advisors?

Sapphire Sands marks a strategic shift for Bay Gardens, a Saint Lucian family-owned hotel group that has built its portfolio around mid-market Saint Lucian hospitality for more than three decades. The new build sits directly on Reduit Beach, with views of Rodney Bay and Pigeon Island National Landmark.

The inventory is compact and flexible: nine villas, configurable from one to three bedrooms, targeting families, honeymooners and small groups. Butler service covers every room.

"Sapphire Sands represents our first entrance into the five-star luxury market, built and operated by Saint Lucians for travelers who want to experience our island at its very best," said Sanovnik Destang, Executive Director of Bay Gardens Resorts, in a media statement. "Butler service extends to every room at Sapphire Sands, paired with the signature Bay Gardens hospitality that our Caribbean neighbors know and love."

What does it change for sellers?

The pitch to the trade is a locally owned alternative in a luxury tier where Saint Lucia's five-star supply is otherwise dominated by international brands. Commercial Director Anice O'Neil framed the product as a sellable promise for advisors.

"Authenticity is the luxury here. Our partners can now put a client in a three-bedroom villa on Reduit Beach and promise them Saint Lucia at a five-star standard with butler service in every room," O'Neil said in a press statement.

The launch also carries government backing. Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Minister for Tourism, attended the event and highlighted the group's continued investment in Saint Lucia's tourism product.

"I'm really happy with what they have done, and I'm looking forward to the other projects that they have in the pipeline," Hilaire said — a signal that additional Bay Gardens development is in the works, though no timelines or details were disclosed.

With the showcase now an annual-format prospect in its inaugural year, and Bay Gardens signaling further projects, advisors can expect more opportunities to see expanded Saint Lucian inventory firsthand as the group scales up.
