Aroya Cruises Pushes Direct Channel With iOS and Android App Launch
Aroya Cruises launched a native iOS and Android app in English and Arabic, connecting booking, check-in and onboard management to its booking and CRM stack. Onboard messaging, wayfinding and a digital cabin key are on the roadmap.

Itinerary
- Aroya Cruises launched a native mobile application for iOS and Android, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
- The app operates in English and Arabic and links directly to Aroya's booking engine, CRM and wider operational systems.
- Core features include voyage booking, digital check-in, pre- and post-cruise checklists, selected offers and onboard service management, including dining, spa, events and guest folio access.
- Selected onboard features function without paid Wi-Fi; onboard messaging, wayfinding and a digital cabin key are slated for later releases.
- The app follows a redesigned Aroya website previewed by Executive Commercial Director Ala Tashkandi.
Aroya Cruises has released a native mobile application for iOS and Android, letting guests search, book and manage voyages entirely inside the app in English or Arabic. The launch extends a digital rebuild that began with a redesigned website previewed earlier this year.
The app is now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, completing a stack Aroya has connected to its booking engine, customer relationship management platform and wider operational systems. Executive Commercial Director Ala Tashkandi previewed the new website in a recent interview with Cruise Industry News; the mobile product is the next piece of the same program, with web, mobile, kiosks and digital signage all routed through one guest profile.
What does the app actually do for guests?
Aroya is positioning the application as a single front door for the entire voyage, organized around five use cases:
- Booking future cruises and managing existing reservations
- Completing digital check-in before sailing
- Following pre- and post-cruise checklists
- Accessing selected offers and promotions
- Managing onboard time: daily program, dining and venue reservations, events, spa and wellness bookings, shore excursions, onboard offers and guest folio
The line also confirmed that selected onboard features will work without paid Wi-Fi, a meaningful point given the cost of shipboard connectivity. A phased roadmap will add onboard messaging, wayfinding and a digital cabin key, extending the app from a booking utility into a full cabin control surface.
What does this mean for distribution and revenue mix?
The commercial logic of a cruise-branded app is straightforward: shift volume away from third-party agents and online travel agencies, where commissions and marketing costs erode per-cabin margin. By linking the app to its booking engine and CRM, Aroya gains a first-party view of guest behavior, repeat intent and ancillary spend, the kind of data that feeds targeted promotions and yield decisions.
Aroya has not disclosed current direct-booking share, conversion rates or projected app downloads. Without those benchmarks, the financial case for the app remains a projection rather than a measured result, and trade sellers will watch whether the line undercuts, or simply complements, agent-sourced bookings.
How should travel sellers read the move?
For agents and tour operators that carry Aroya inventory, the new app does not eliminate the B2B channel but it does raise the bar. Guests can now handle search, booking, check-in and onboard management end-to-end on a phone, which means sellers will need to justify commission through value the app cannot replicate: complex multi-leg itineraries, group bookings, corporate incentives and last-minute problem solving.
The line itself has framed the launch in guest-experience terms rather than commercial ones. "Our mobile app gives guests a dedicated way to engage with Aroya, making each step of their journey simpler, more personal and more connected," Tashkandi said. He added that the app "reflects the attention to detail that defines the Aroya experience and our commitment to shaping a cruise experience built around the preferences of today's guests." Operators should read that language as brand intent rather than a disclosed financial target.
What should the trade watch next?
The next milestone is not the launch itself but the first full sailing season with the app in market. Adoption metrics — downloads, active users, share of bookings completed on mobile, share of onboard ancillary spend routed through the guest folio — will determine whether Aroya's direct-channel shift delivers the margin and lifetime-value lift the line is betting on, or whether the app remains a convenience layer on top of the existing channel mix.
