Itinerary

  1. Amex Travel announced the rebrand on October 20; the updated program launches online October 22.
  2. The collection includes 20 participating cruise lines and yacht brands.
  3. Aman at Sea joined in June 2026, ahead of Amangati's inaugural season in spring 2027.
  4. The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection joined in 2024 and now has three yachts.
  5. Participating partners and card member benefits remain unchanged.

American Express Travel is renaming its cruise program the American Express Cruise & Yacht Collection, with the refreshed identity going live online on October 22 — two days after the October 20 announcement.

The rebrand is cosmetic where it matters most to sellers: participating partners and card member benefits remain consistent. What changes is the framing. Amex said in a statement that the new name and identity reflect how the portfolio has evolved across premium cruise, yacht and superyacht experiences. In practice, that means the marketing now leans as hard on small-ship luxury as on traditional ocean cruising.

What's actually in the collection?

The collection counts 20 participating cruise lines and yacht brands. The yacht side has been growing fastest:

  • The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection joined in 2024 and now operates three yachts
  • Orient Express Sailing Yachts joined in January 2026
  • Aman at Sea joined in June 2026, ahead of Amangati's inaugural season in spring 2027

Newer partners also include Virgin Voyages and Explora Journeys, which Amex described as offering distinct, upscale hotel-or-resort-like experiences at sea.

Why the name change matters for distribution

For a program whose economics hinge on card-linked bookings, a name is rarely just a name. The shift from "cruise" to "cruise and yacht" signals where Amex sees margin and demand: the ultraluxury segment, where Aman and Orient Express are building inventory that didn't exist five years ago.

For advisors and sellers plugged into Amex's distribution, the message is continuity. No partner churn, no benefit restructuring — a rebrand without the usual operational turbulence. That's the rare kind of repositioning sellers can ignore operationally and exploit commercially, since yacht inventory is among the hardest product to place at scale.

The company is directing further details to its website.

Whether the new identity moves bookings is the open question. Amex hasn't published sales figures for the collection, so the market will judge the rebrand by what the 2027 yacht seasons deliver.
